Franciszek had a younger brother, Jan, who served as the Mine Methane Drainage Plant president in Rybnik.
Likewise, he had two sisters named Urszula and Krystyna. Urszula is an economist, while Krystyna is a retired teacher.
She even served as a councilor of the Wodzisław district council. After separation from his wife, he dated some women and got hooked on a woman named Małgorzata Drewniak, an ophthalmologist.
When Smuda and Drewniak met, she knew only a little about football. However, later, Drewniak was impressed by Smuda.
